Reasons for pink being a feminine colour

It’s well established that objects planned for girls are pink and those for boys are blue. However, things were not the same nearly a century ago. In 1900s, pink was considered as a colour that trendy for boys and blue was trendy for girls. For instance, newspaper gave tips which said that pink should be used for boys and blue for girls.

Despite of original implications of the colours, it is thus very lucid that the earlier meanings have been swapped. There have been studies which reveal that women like pink colour more than boys. Some research works also show that the current colour accord conceptualized in 1950s.

It is also commonly accepted that colour is the essence of fashion which in turn is an art. In short, fashion is creating one’s style. Other than these colours, White is considered to be the colour of light and neutrality. Black is the mysterious colour. It gives a feeling of profundity and perception. In addition, it is regarded as a very prestigious colour. Another popular colour is Red which is considered as extremely fashionable.

However, studies also reveal that the colour of pink is not genuine as it doesn’t appear on the colour spectrum. The word pink was used to describe the light red flowers in the dianthus kin. However, light red colour cannot be considered as pink as it has a bit less green in the colour mix. Thus pink can be termed as a combined colour which infuses two different rays of light from the colour spectrum the receptor cones in the eyes perceive them to be on colour. The ability to this is based upon the retina which has three different receptor cells. The first one is comparatively discrete from the other two cells and is also highly responsive to the light which is perceived as violet. Cones of such variety are called short wavelength cones which are also popularly known as S cones. The other two cones are genetically and chemically related. One of them is called long wavelength cones also known as L cones is susceptible to light perceived as yellowish green. The last type known middle wavelength cones also known as M cones is susceptible to light perceived as green.

In other words, the human eye perceives colour in a similar way as televisions and computers i.e. a mixture of red green and blue or popularly referred as RGB. Where the green replaces yellow as a primary colour.

Usually pink is associated with Peace, love, feminine, understanding, compassion, honour, morality and friendship. People who love pink are very intelligent and contemplative. They usually study and analyse the best way to do something before any action is taken. They sometimes overly optimistic due to which they look younger than their years. They like to shy but they also fear precipitous action where they choose not to make any mistakes.

Thus women like pink because the red arouses sexual instincts; orange stimulates internal sexual organs and the turquoise increase the higher heart chakra which triggers emotions.
