If you have a sitting job where you spend maximum hours right in front of your desktop, you should keep a few things in mind regarding your posture. If you don't take proper care, it might affect your health and you may suffer from pain, fatigue, or even stress. Many of us either don't know about the importance of a correct posture or who even know don't give much importance. Our careless nature leads to back pain, which is a major issue these days. Improve your posture to reduce back pain and other major problems through some pointers listed below:

  • Make sure that you adjust the height of the chair correctly according to your monitor. Proper alignment of the chair will help you sit straight in front of the desktop. This will prevent leaning forward. Your elbow must be in level of workstation.
  • The chair you use should custom fit you in a way that it supports your back. The arm should be flexed and elbow must be aligned at an angle from 75 to 90 °.
  • Place your feet firmly on the floor and don't cross them. Sit in a position that distributes your weight equally. Bend your knees at a 90° angle to your hips.    
  • To correct your posture you can use a pillow at the back.
  • Stand up and walk for sometime after every hour. Do a little exercise or stretch your body while sitting at an office for three four times each day.        
  • Do exercises that strengthen the muscles across your upper back and shoulders. You can also join yoga classes as yoga is really an excellent way to improve your posture.

While sitting for prolonged hours in the office, you should keep certain points in mind regarding your posture. A correct posture can prove helpful in preventing many diseases. Incorrect sitting posture may be even more harmful as you have thought. There are reports of increasing back pain and other related diseases due to incorrect sitting postures that people adopt. These simple guidelines can make you feel refreshed even after spending long hours at the office. Follow these rules for a perfect sitting posture and keep diseases at bay. A simple back pain may affect your work and other daily activities, thus it is better to adopt a correct posture instead of pain.
