The role of sleep in babies is immense. Sleep is absolutely necessary for the proper development of health in your baby. Sleep also plays an important role in your baby`s growth. Adequate sleep in an inevitable requisite for the proper mental and physical development of your baby. Keep reading to learn more about the role of sleep in babies.

Infants and babies spent most of the time sleeping. The course of the sleep lengths however decreases with the growth of the baby. A newborn sleeps almost two third part of the day while a matured adult sleeps only 6-7 hours a day. The role of sleep in crucial and absolutely necessary in babies for the first 3 years. Physical growth, physical recuperation and the development of the immune system is greatly regulated by sleep in babies. It has also been studied and observed the role of sleep in babies is essential for the development and the proper functioning of the brain. It has been found that children who lack proper sleep develop abnormal temperament. Children suffering from poor sleep also have stressful life.
The role of sleep in babies is also immense to give them a normal and healthy life. When a child suffers from inadequate sleep it continues to persist in their preschool days also. This also hamper their studies as well as develop lack of concentration. Children suffering from sleep disorder are also inattentive.

Memory and learning capabilities in children are also regulated by sleep. Good and adequate sleep in babies help them to learn faster than babies who suffer from inadequate sleep. The information processing is also regulated by sleep.

Try to develop good sleep habits in your child. Make the room of your baby darker when he or she is sleeping. This will allow to sleep for long hours. It is good and effective specially if your child is an early waker. `Early to bed-early to rise` is the habit you should indulge your baby in. help your baby to sleep on his or her back. Avoid the habit of smoking in front of your baby or in the room where your baby sleep. Smoke filled rooms can create discomfort as well as breathing trouble in your baby. Do not give your baby to sleep in a pillow, duvet or quilt unless your baby is an year old. Prepare some ritual habits before the sleeping time of your child. This will make your baby conditioned to sleep.

If you find sleep disorders in your child, or if your child is in any discomfort then seek for immediate medical advice. Keep a record of sleeping time of your child and report to your baby`s pediatrician. Observe whether you child is having breathing problem during sleep and report to your pediatrician if anything like that is found.
