Trained as a journalist, Anjali Gopalan is an LGBT (read: lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) rights activist. She is also the first person to work in the area of HIV/AIDS in India, fighting against the disease. Founder and Executive Director of the Naz Foundation (India) Trust, which is an NGO devoted to spreading awareness about AIDS. Additionally, she also runs a private care-home for HIV positive children and women.
